Ludovica Gioscia - Artist

In the last months I’ve had a real urge to talk about what is really important to me.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the most important thing is love and that this energy fuels everything that surrounds us. I realise that we all have different ideas and feelings around what ‘love’ is, hence I can only portray a scenario of my own feelings about it.

I’d like to bring you in a room or an enclosed space in which you are overloaded and ‘enveloped’ in my frantic and chaotic vision of it.

Different issues will be treated within this space and most of it will be a ‘celebration’ of friendship and joy. As a recurrent theme, invented fashion-like logo’s of knotted guns, missiles that have the only function of giving the sky its blue colour , tanks that are used as washing lines on which to hang your wet clothes, etc, will act as a backdrop. In this alternative reality all military artillery is redundant and has very silly functions. What has just been described will be wallpaper covering the room’s walls. The central logo, two guns knotted together, could also be seen as some sort of YSL twisted logo

There is a strong anti-war theme running in the room of love: all that disrupts my concept of love is subverted and it is transformed into something that exposes the stupidity and futility of its existence. Behind all the playfulness of the piece there is a very strong political message that I wish to convey in a light hearted and playful way. I believe humour is a very effective tool to spread consciousness. Southpark and the Simpsons operate on this principle

It will be a cluttered multi-layered space composed of paintings hanged on top of the wallpaper, many small monitors scattered around the space that present animations that bring to life elements depicted in the wallpaper. These elements then become ‘characters’.

The paintings will be mainly of friends and pets (basically loved ones); they will be painted very brightly and will scream for attention.

I will also have other videos playing in the space of friends dancing on clouds or people flying in the sky as if they were angels. It will be an experience of kitsch galore: A Thai shopping mall meets a Tibetan temple.
