Project: A working exchange and exhibition between selected post-graduate artists from London and Belgrade.

Participants: The project will be curated by Vanessa Able, and will feature the work of Gil Pasternak, Ludovica Giosca, Eddie Farrell, Chris Cornish and Vanessa Able from the UK, and Jelena Radic, Srdjan Arsic and Tijana Knezevic from Serbia and Montenegro.

Concept: The subject of the project is what it means to make political art in the current local or global climate.
The participants all make work that is appropriate in some way to this question, whether they employ methods of direct action or the politics in their work is more implicit. The idea is that the artists involved discuss these issues prior to their coming together to make the shows, share ideas and opinions, and see what comes from this. Then the British artists will travel to Belgrade for a period of one to two weeks to execute the project, and the Yugoslav artists will come to London for the same period.

In addition to the exhibition, a 44-page catalogue will be produced to document the project. It is also set to contain various essays on the subject of engaged art by different writers. Among the confirmed contributors are New York Times Balkan correspondent Daniel Simpson, and art critic Gabriel Coxhead.
